JENNA & JOHN'S WINTER WEDDING AT WIDBROOK GRANGE, BRADFORD-ON-AVON

February weddings have a magic all of their own with the crisp air, soft winter light, and the kind of atmosphere that feels wonderfully intimate. Jenna and John’s beautiful day at Widbrook Grange in Bradford-on-Avon was the perfect blend of sunshine and sudden rain showers, proving that winter weddings can be every bit as warm, vibrant, and joy-filled as those in the height of summer.

A Barn Ceremony Filled With Warmth

With no morning preparations, the day began right where the excitement was building most, at the ceremony in the beautifully converted barn. The rustic beams, soft lighting, and cosy atmosphere created the perfect setting to escape the February chill outside. As guests gathered, there was a lovely sense of anticipation before Jenna made her entrance, and John’s reaction said everything.

Their ceremony was heartfelt and relaxed, filled with laughter, a few happy tears, and that unmistakable feeling of two people completely at ease with each other. The barn felt wonderfully intimate, wrapping everyone in warmth while winter quietly lingered outside.

Live Wedding Illustration - A Beautifully Unique Touch

One of the most unique and memorable touches of Jenna and John’s day was the presence of a talented wedding sketch artist capturing the celebration as it unfolded. During the ceremony in the converted barn, she quietly illustrated the couple as they exchanged vows, a completely different way of preserving the moment, full of character and emotion.

Throughout the reception, guests loved watching the sketches come to life. The artist moved between tables in the Georgian farmhouse and later into the barn, drawing beautiful portraits of friends and family as they laughed, chatted, and celebrated together. It created such a lovely buzz, with people gathering to see the artwork and eagerly waiting to spot themselves on the page.

Not only did it give guests a truly personal keepsake to take home, but it also added an extra layer of storytelling to the day - moments captured not just through photographs, but through art. It was a thoughtful, creative choice that perfectly reflected Jenna and John’s relaxed and joyful celebration.

Widbrook Grange Ceremonies

Joy, Sunshine & Quick Dashes

Stepping outside, we were greeted by bursts of sunshine between passing rain showers; classic February weather. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect for outdoor group photos conducted outside the picturesque farmhouse. When the rain threatened, everyone simply laughed, huddled close, and embraced the moment, which made for some wonderfully natural, joy-filled photographs, except for the one heavy shower where everyone had to dash inside for shelter.

We took advantage of the winter gardens for Jenna and John’s couple portraits, where the soft light and fresh greenery created a romantic backdrop. Winter weddings have a beautiful simplicity, and the quiet elegance of the grounds at Widbrook Grange made those moments feel extra special.

A Georgian Farmhouse Feast (And A Surprise)

The celebrations continued inside the Georgian farmhouse for the wedding breakfast - a cosy, welcoming space that felt like a home filled with laughter. Just when guests thought they were settling in for a relaxed meal, the surprise arrived: singing waiters who after pretending to fall over with a tray of cutlery burst into song between the main course and desserts.

The room transformed instantly. Napkins were waving, guests were on their feet, and the energy was infectious. It was one of those unforgettable moments that had everyone smiling from ear to ear and set the tone for the evening celebrations to come.

Back to the Barn for Dancing the Night Away

As evening fell, everyone returned to the barn which had been transformed into a lively reception space glowing with warm light. Jenna and John cut their cake surrounded by their favourite people before taking to the floor for their first dance as newlyweds.

From that moment on, the dance floor stayed full. The earlier rain showers were long forgotten as laughter, music, and celebration carried on into the night - the perfect ending to a day that had already delivered so many beautiful moments.

A Perfect February Love Story

Jenna and John’s wedding was a wonderful reminder that no matter the season (or the weather), what truly matters is the connection between two people and the joy they share with everyone around them. Sunshine, rain, singing waiters, and a packed dance floor - their day had it all.

Widbrook Grange provided the most stunning winter backdrop, and it was such a privilege to capture every moment of this unforgettable celebration.
