Morning Preparations at The Castle
There are some wedding days that feel like pure sunshine from beginning to end. Alexandra and Jeremy's July celebration was exactly that. Set in the Somerset countryside, the estate was glowing in summer light and every moment of their day unfolded with warmth, laughter and the kind of joy that makes photographing wedding such a privilege.

Beginning the day at The Castle, the morning unfolded at Orchardleigh Estate, providing a peaceful setting for leisurely preparations. The bridal party relished a constant flow of champagne while having their hair styled and makeup applied. The convenience of having everything in one location eliminated the need for any rushing between locations. Two beautifully illuminated rooms housed the hair and makeup services close by, allowing everyone to unwind and enjoy the morning. This arrangement proved especially beneficial for photography, with ample natural light streaming through the windows creating the ideal backdrop for capturing intimate moments, the excitement of preparation, and the shared happiness among friends. Concentrating these activities in one area established a serene atmosphere that set the perfect tone for the day ahead.

This followed by a short journey to the main house for the final details in the bridal suite including getting into dresses and a final spritz of perfume before heading down the outdoor aisle.

A Warm, Heartfelt Ceremony

The ceremony took place on the Belvedere, originally the orangery of Orchardleigh House. The Belvedere is one of the most breathtaking ceremony locations on the estate and on this bright July afternoon it looked like something from a painting. With views of the nearby lake it created an intimate setting while still feeling wonderfully grand.

Guests gathered under the clear blue skies as Alexandra made her way across the causeway, a moment that felt suspended in time. Jeremy's reaction when he first saw her said everything. Emotional, joyful and completely present. Exactly what every couple hopes for.

Their ceremony was heartfelt and personal, filled with laughter and a few happy tears. The gentle summer breeze, birdsong and the shimmering lake created a natural soundtrack that made the moment even more magical. Outdoor ceremonies always carry an unpredictability, but on this day, the weather was absolutely perfect!

Drinks, Sunshine & Summer Portraits

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed drinks on the lawn while the newlyweds soaked up those first moments as husband and wife. Orchardleigh's grounds are a dream for wedding photography, especially in summer when everything is lush and vibrant.

We wandered through the gardens and along the lakeside for portraits, capturing relaxed, natural moments between the couple. They were so at ease together, laughing, talking and occasionally forgetting the camera was even there. Those are always the images couples treasure the most.

The Reception Celebration

Inside the house, the reception space was elegantly styled with soft summer tones that complimented the surroundings perfectly. Speeches were heartfelt and hilarious in equal measure, with stories that had the whole room laughing on moment and wiping away tears the next.
As evening approached, guests spilled back outside to enjoy the long summer light. One of my favourite images from the day was Alexandra and Jeremy walking hand in hand across the grounds, completely wrapped in each other while their guests celebrated nearby.

Golden Hour at Orchardleigh House

Golden sunlight filtered through the trees as the afternoon unfolded, creating the most beautiful soft glow. July weddings have a special king of warmth, not just in temperature but in atmosphere too.

Dancing Into the Summer Night

As the sun dipped lower in the sky, the celebrations moved into full party mode. The dance floor quickly filled, proving that this was a group ready to celebrate properly. There's something special about summer wedding evenings, doors open to the warm air, music spilling out across the grounds and that feeling that no one wants the night to end.

Before I left we stepped outside for a few final twilight portraits. The sky softened into pastel tones and Orchardleigh House looked quietly magnificent behind them. It was the perfect peaceful ending to a joyful, vibrant day.

A Day to Remember

Alexandra and Jeremy's wedding was a beautiful reminder of what weddings are truly about - connection, celebration and being surrounded by the people you love. From the emotion Belvedere ceremony to the laughter-filled reception and dancing under the summer sky, every part of the their day felt authentic and full of heart.

It was an honour to capture their story at one of Somerset's most stunning venues, and I know their photographs will bring those memories rushing back for years to come,

If you're planning your own wedding at Orchardleigh House -  especially a summer ceremony on the Belvedere, it truly is a setting that delivers unforgettable moments in every direction.

Alexandra and Jeremy, thank you for trusting me to document your incredible day.
